I have imported bulk data from Excel sheet to Access database. I want to
format text as bold, italic, etc with different font. Can you please tell me
the easiest eay of formatting text? I will be very grateful as I am
completely stuck up with this problem. Thank you.

Parag,

What do you mean? This sounds like you are treating an Access table like
an Excel table, which it isn't! The kind of formatting you are referring
to(tet attributes) cannot be set/changed in a table datasheet view,
because that is not intended for displaying data. That is done in
forms/reports, where you have complete control of the format of how the
data is displayed; the data itself cannot be formatted.

....or have I got you all wrong?

Parag,

I don't mean to disappoint you, but this doesn't really sound like
Access! What are you trying to achieve? Are you sure Access is the too
for it?

I should have been told before. I am trying to import data from Access to
another application named ServiceWare 5.7. Because there is no formatting in
Access, I have to edit in ServiceWare again. I want to format all the data in
Access so that it can be imported alogwith bold, italics, etc. into
ServiceWare. Hope this clears my situation. Thank you.

Parag,

No good news here. Access will only export data, not formatting...
that's just not what it was meant for. Why do you have to use Access as
an intermediate step? Can't you import directly from Excel, where you
can have all the formatting you want?

That said, I have to say I have no idea what ServiceWare is, the name
suggests it's probably some service scheduling/follow-up software? How
does it communicate with Office apps? What file types can it import? I'm
asking this question because I suspect you can't transfer formatting
along anyway - at least if my guess on what it is sin't far off. If
that's correct, you're most likely barking up the wrong tree, I'm afraid.

Thanks Nikos. There is one Import tool application which import data from
Access/Excel into ServiceWare. If you are sure about Access, can you please
tell me how can I format data in Excel sheet. I tried to copy formatted text
from Word into Excel, but it removed all the formatting. Even if you tell me
how to format in Excel, that will also help me a lot. Thank you.

Parag

Sorry, but you are wasting your time. As Nikos said earlier, formatting is
for display purposes. Formatting does not transfer between applications.
But, If you insist on running in circles, in short, to format in Excel,
select a cell or range of cells that will be formatted together, Click on
Format->Cells, and format it any way you want. Then, when you import it into
your application, you will be disappointed to find that the formatting did
not travel with the data.

When you are done with that, why not get a shovel and dig a hole in your
swimming pool?
