OK, probably a stupid question, but how do you install a new BIOS? I
downloaded the latest one from ASUS, and put it on a floppy. Did not
install on startup. I've seen something about an EZFlash, but don't know
what it is, or how to do it.

I know it can be dangerous to flash a new BIOS, but looking to fix stability
problem.

Thanks,
Craig

Pg.69 has the flashing procedures.

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/sock478/P4C800E-DX/e1347b_p4c800-e_deluxe.pdf

When you are on the download page, downloading the new BIOS, click the
"More" button, for any special instructions needed to flash the BIOS.
Since some of the BIOS versions update the Boot Block of the flash chip,
there can be changes to which tools work and which ones don't work.

For P4CED15.zip, the special instructions are:

"Do not use old version Afudos.exe to flash BIOS.Must use new
Afudos.exe which is included in zip file to flash BIOS.

Using ASUSLiveUpdate to flash BIOS,you need to upgrade
ASUSLiveupdate to v 5.22.02 or later before flash BIOS.

Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at:
http://www.asus.com.tw/support/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx

Fix boot devices fail to be disabled when more than one boot
device in the same group."

BigC:

Argue-ably, if your system is working then don't flash the BIOS.

Don't use EasyFlash, do it the old fashion way by using Aflash in Dos.

Basically you have to start by making a floppy boot disk then adding the
Award flash utility and the bios flash file to the floppy.

Download Dr. Dos for making the boot disk, it's quick, easy, and you don't
have to worry about running low on memory.

http://www.hellasystems.de/ftp/Utilities/BootDisk/DrDos70/drdflash.exe

Download and unzip the flash file to the floppy.

Download and unzip the flash utility to the floppy.

Make sure you can boot from your floppy drive. If not check the bios
settings to make sure the floppy is set to boot before the hard drive. Write
down the exact name of the flash file. Boot from the floppy, run Aflash and
save your current bios just in case.

Flash to the new file, and clear the cmos. Boot to bios and load setup
defaults.

You can update a bios from the hard drive as long as you have a bootable
CDROM disk that can get you into DOS. I haven't used a floppy drive on any
of my pc's in over 2 years.

How do I do it if I dont have a floppy drive?
Can I use a bootable cd? How do I make one of those?
