I have very basic knowledge on the pc,. i hard drive is thrashing very loud

have downloaded the Microsoft process explorer, but i am clueless of what to
do to solve this problem. Please help !!!
Well, there are two sides to look at here. First of all, the three
things you mention are all things that will cause the hard drive to be
"busy" ("thrashing", as you put it). That's normal - especially if you
have a relatively small amount of RAM, as the hard drive will need to
use the swap file more frequently.
The other side is this: If you have heard a lot of computers and it
seems to you that the hard drive on yours is *really* noisy, it could be
that the drive is headed toward failure. How old is the drive? What
brand is it? All drive manufacturers have "test" files on their
websites to download and test the model of drive you have for your
particular computer. If the drive checks out OK, the "thrashing" is
something you just have to live with. But - a set of four stick-on felt
feet can really help to lower the noise level if your CPU is sitting on
a hard desktop (much of the noise you hear *could* be the desktop
resonating the normal mechanical noise - I speak from experience).
Main thing: Get that test program from the manufacturer's website for
your model of drive, and go from there.
