When I restart my computer I get a Windows message that
says "File or Directory C:\$MFT is corrupt and
unreadable". It then says to do a scandisk. I have done
that at least 3 times and still get the same message. How
do I correct? What caused the problem? Everything still
seems to work OK. dp

I believe the MFT is the Master File Table on an NTFS
volume. See this for more info: http://www.ntfs.com/ntfs-
mft.htm. Could be an indication that your hard drive is
failing, could be something less serious. Hopefully
someone else will respond, I'm not too up on this kind of
problem (but I responded anyhow, right ?) Good Luck ! ;-)

Hi,

Start/run cmd

Run chkdsk C: /r

Follow the prompts for it to be done on system restart (you cannot do this
while Windows is running), then reboot. This may take awhile.

Hi,
First try to install Service Pack 1 with all updates
If you already have a service pack 1
the check the Hard drive cable
change the cable from 40 pin to 80 pin
