How to fix an old laser printer (Apple IIF)

I have an old Apple IIf printer that stopped working. (The symptom is that
the 'low toner' light goes on, and the printer will not print. I have
bought a new cartridge, and the symptoms persist.) Apple does not support
it any longer, so normal Apple dealers will not touch it. Do you know of
some folks who might tinker with such an antique, preferably in the
Chicago area? Or do you have any suggestions (other than buying a new
printer?)

Thanks

Is it an SX canon engine? or the LX canon engine? Parts for both
printers are still available but some parts for the SX engine are hard
to get. But if the problem is with the Apple PCB boards, you may be
able to get refurbished boards only.

It's an SX engine.
Try cleaning the high-voltage contacts and corona wire, especially around
the brown 'insulators' on both ends.
Check all cables on the DC-controllor.
