How to find whether an Image is Color or B/W

For my ImageProcessing Application i need to find whether
an Image is Color or B/W through code for GrayScale
automation purpose, Iam using vb.net and photoshop for
developing the application.

Can any one help in this regard.

What is a black and white image ?

It might sound obvious, but If you can truly answer this, then you are half
way towards the answer.

In what image format are your images stored?
