FYI, I'm using Excel 2010

I have a column that contains a whole list of wind direction readings
'N','NE',"E", etc.

Is there a way of displaying which of the wind directions was the most
frequent, over a given range of rows in that column?

Should I assume there is no easy way of doing this, then?

I managed it with helper columns before, but I hoped there was a more
concise way?

TIA.

create a Pivot table. Drag wind directions to the row field and to the
value field and select for the value field show numbers as % of result.

Do you know of any good tutorial for Pivot Tables then, as I've never
used them before?
