I have tried many times to export using File -> Import & Export -> Export to
a file -> Export to a CSV file -> export from Contacts folder.

I always get old outdated contacts, never all the new contacts. For
example, if I have 500 contacts, I get about the first old 100
chronologically.

I notice I have multiple Contacts folders in the 'export from file' view.
I have tried to export from them all separately. I cannot export from them
all by adding them using the CTRL key. It will only accept one folder to
export from.

I can see all my contacts in the Contacts view of outlook. I just cannot
export all of them.

do you need multiple contacts folder? if not, go to folder list view and
drag the contacts from the other folders to the main folder.

I closed the other contacts folder. I found my mistake, however. Outlook
is exporting to a file named 'contacts' which has no extension, but is an
Excel comma separated values file. I had been using a file named
'contacts.csv'. When I started deleting the files first to see which was
created by export, I found the correct file. Thanks for your help!

I believe you need to enter the file extension explicitly.
