How to execute a pass-through query from a remote computer

I'd like to make a dynamic table in Excel, which gets its data from an Access database (store in another computer), i.e. a pass-through query.
But I am having trouble, it keeps sending me an error message whenever I want to do that.

"ODBC: error when trying to connect to 'whatever dsn' "

Please give me a hint or a tip. Thanks in advance!'
