I cannot find in the Help section how to enable the
preview pane. I see references ot it but not how to get it
back. I want to see what the message is before I attempt
to open the email.
Thanks,

The browsers window is an entire preview pane! Sounds like you asked in the
wrong newsgroup and are asking how to show the Preview pane in Outlook
[Express]. It's a menu choice, or you can use the toolbar button.

By the way, previewing a message *IS* opening it! How can you preview the
message without opening it so you can actually view anything within it?
Preview *will* download AND open the message. However, maybe you meant
AutoPreview mode which shows the first lines of each message as plain text.
This "preview" still opens the message but displays plain text of just the
first few lines under each message item.
