Hi,

I try to share an internet connection with two other PCs. I read an article
on the web site saying that Windows XP has the capability to share an
internet connection. That option should be enabled from the advanced tab on
the network connection. But my Windows XP does not have that option. Could
somebody please tell me if I need to install a Windows component or another
module to activate the Internet Connection Sharing option?

Regards,
Sandford

It's pretty easy. First connect your MODEM to ur main
computer and make sure you can connect. Then, (if u have
linksys) insert the CD and it will guide you through, i
know beczuse it did for me...i did it in about 2 minutes

Do you have TWO network cards in the computer? If not,
there is no option to enable sharing.

Hi,

Why should I need two network cards? I have one network card and one modem.
The modem will be used to connect to the ISP. The network card will be used
to connect to the switch where the other two PCs will be connected to.

Sharing an Ethernet connection (DSL, cable modem, etc) requires two
network cards. Sharing a dial-up modem connection only requires one
network card.

The ICS option won't appear if the local area network connection is
disabled or firewalled.

Hi Ken,

Yes, I am looking for the advanced tab and the tab is there. But, the ICS
sharing is not there.

Sandford

Sorry I should have been more clear, first make sure you are checking the
advanced tab for the modem and not the one for the LAN card.

My memory is a bit hazy but you may have to turn off the firewall on the LAN
connection to make it a candidate for ICS.
