The problems is I trying to edit three people who left
the firm and have 3 others added in place of them. The
problem is we are using a windows 2000 server with active
directory and the worstation have xp. The local machine
have regular username of administrator with no password
and box for login the the previous user who left. I need
to remove the username at the log to reflect the new
person. The computer name shows as the old person as
well. I don't have a admin password to log onto the
machine with. Any sugguestion.

If you have Active Directory and the computer is part of the domain then you can log in with any domain user account

I don't see the problem here, unless you missed something.

The problem is not logging onto the network with the
users account. The problem is that I don't have a admin
password to change the computer name of the local
machine. I'm trying to change the login name of a local
machine that contains a name of a person who left the
firm to a new person who would like there info at the
login signin. The only way I see to do that is to log
onto that local machine with a admin password. The thing
is how to do that without a admin password. The orignal
person who setup the network did not leave a admin
password. I was trying to avoid re imaging the machines
and having to back up data. I basically just want to make
the changes to the local machines who login names and
computer names need to reflect the new users for those
machines.

You don't want to "rename" the PC. The PC's have computer names and
People have User names/accounts. Completely separate things.
