My friend has downloaded all photographs etc. from old computer to a CD, I
can view it all on the new computer but I want to get all the stuff on to my
new computer without having to use the CD each time I want to view them How
do I do this please.

1) Right click your desktop, choose...
New / Folder. This will create a New
Folder on your desktop...this is where
the image files will be copied.

2) Insert the CD in your CD drive. A
dialog box may appear on your screen
that says: What do you want windows
to do? You will have several choices...
Choose...
"Open Folder To View Files" / "OK".

2B) If the dialog box does not appear...
go to the *My Computer* icon on your
desktop and left click it. In the window
that opens you will see all of your drives.
Right click the icon for your CD drive...
(probably (D:)...from the menu...choose
...."Open"...

3) Now you should see a window with
some folders in it. This is the contents of
the CD. Left click the various folders until
you find the image files. When you see
the images pop up...Go to the toolbar at
the top of the window and left click...
....Edit / Select All...
.....once more....
....Edit / Copy...
Now you can close the window.

4) Now...open your New Folder with a
left click and go to...Edit / Paste...this
will copy the selected image files into
your New Folder.

4B) Right click your new folder and from
the menu...choose paste.

This should copy everything on the CD to
your new folder...now you should be able
to open the new folder and find your images.

You simply copy the files on the CD to a folder on your new computer.
A good idea would be to keep your pictures in the folder "My Pictures".
However, you should make a new folder in your "My Pictures" folder for each
group of pictures.
1. Open My Computer and then My Documents. You will see the folder My
Pictures listed there. Double click on it to open it.
Click on File on the top bar and click on New on the opening menu and
Folder. Enter a name you want to replace New Folder with in the textbox.
Enter something like 2005 Photos from CD.
2. Open the CD so you see the list of files. To copy all the files, hold the
Ctrl key down and press the letter A.
This will select all the files (highlight file names in blue). Look at the
menu on the left, under File and Folder Tasks and click on Copy the selected
items.
A window will open showing a list of drives and folders.
My Documents will be listed there. Double click on it to open it. My
Pictures will be listed there, click on it to open it. Your new folder 2005
Photos from CD will be listed there. Click on it to select it (highlight in
blue) and click on the Copy button at the bottom of the window.
The files from the CD will be copied into this new folder and you can then
open this folder to see your photos.
