I have VB .net standard that I just purchased and it says I can write PDA
applications. However, I suspect I need something more as I do not see any
support for such activities in the install I just installed. Can anyone
provide any guidance on what I need to do, in order to develop applications
for my PDA...

Thanks,

glenn

Smart Device Development is only supported on Visual Studio 2003
Professional and higher editions.

Thank you, now I just have to figure out how to purchase Professional as
I've never heard of it before. This is one major complaint I have with
Microsoft. I need something and can't figure out where to get it or what I
need. Their information on the box for standard says that it can do
something that you are now telling me it can't do.

Is there anywhere that I can once and for all figure out what I need and get
it...

Thanks,

glenn

Hi Glenn!!!!

Well, if the box says that you can create PDA applications then maybe
you bought the right product. Try the following:

1. Open your VB, then go to "File" -> "New Project"
2. On the new window, look for something that says "Smart Device
Application". If you have this icon, then you can create applications for PDAs

In my case, I got the VS.NET 2003 architecture and the installer never
mentioned anything about libraries specific for PDAs. It also says that
SQL2000 should be included (this one I haven't been able to find - I'm still
looking for its query analyzer).

Hope it helps!!!
