Last time I had problems with W2000 startup, I uninstalled
recent Microsoft software updates, and somewhere along the
line was asked, Did I want Windows to troubleshoot the
system itself and if so, would I please insert the Windows
2000 disks? I did so, and to my great surprise the problem
was fixed.
Now I've got another start-up problem. But I can't for
the life of me figure out, how I got to the point, where I
was prompted to insert disks so that Windows would itself
re-install the defective portions of the operating system
software.
Anyone got any idea? To judge by the Microsoft Windows
2000 Help files, this magic solution just doesn't exist.
But I used it!
