Hi,

I am using NT4, I know this is not a right place to post, sorry this, but I
am just thinking maybe someone can help. Thanks

My NT4 dns server was setup 3 years ago, with not revers lookup function.

Now, the dns administrator from my comany headquartor is asking me to
start/setup this dns revers lookup funtion, and also allow the dns zone
transfer function open to his main dns server.

Can anyone tell how to create the setup the reverse lookup function? and how
to allow zone transfer?

Thank you very much

Michael

When you create a reverse lookup zone for say a 192.168.x.x subnet, the zone
name is 168.192.in-addr.arpa. you then create new sub domains in the zone
for 0, 1, 2, etc for the 192.168.0.x, 192.168.1.x, etc. Then in each of
those sub domains you place the PTR records using just the last octet for
the IP number.

Alternately, create the reverse lookup zone name for the 192.168.0.x subnet
by naming the zone 0.168.192.in-addr.arpa, then create the PTR records using
the last octet directly in the zone.
