On an D865 mobo with on-board audio, there is CD in audio header and
AUX in audio header. How would you connect audio from 2 CD-rws and a
DVD?

You expect to listen to 3 optical drives' analog output
simultaneously?

Pick a CDRW, don't hook up the other one... Win98 and newer support
digital audio over IDE bus anyway so you can still hear audio CDs from
the 3rd drive if it's really necessary.

No, but I want all 3 to play alone at sometime.
I'll be loading WinXP. I didn't realize they do digital sound over the
IDE. I'll have to look into how to use that function.

Well if you really wanted all 3 hooked up you could make your own
adapter, put a high value (perhaps around 2.5KOhm) resistor inline on
each drive's output, so 2 are paired to a single sound input. That
may pull the signal down too low though so you'd need a pre-amp too.

IMHO, there is no reason to need all 3 hooked up. If you're wanting
to listen to music that much you'd be better off to rip the audio to
hdd for playback anyway, it will be available without swapping discs
and possibly quieter playback by keeping the optical drive unused.
