How to display black slide at the end of show?

I know one way is to press "period (.)" or "B." But I want to use an action
button. I insert the "end button" which links to end show. Under tools,
"end show with black slide" is checked. However, when I do F5 to run the PPT
file or just double click on the PPS file, I don't get the black slide. What
have I missed?

Is black slide for automatic transition only?

Thanks.

If you are using an action button, you won't get to see the "end show with
black slide". Instead, you can press the enter key, or do a left click
anywhere on the slide (not on the action button) to get the black slide.

Alternately, add a "next" button on the last slide. Now, create a new slide
and set the slide transition to advance automatically after 00:00. By doing
so, once you click on the "next" button, it will jump to the new slide, then
shows the black slide immediately.

Note that the black slide does not appear in a kiosk mode or looped
presentation.
