Hello,

how to disable the firewall on XP SP2? It got automatically activated after
I have updated the SBS 2003. I have tried to disable it throgh
Default Domain controller policy with setting Windows Firewall, Domain
profile, Windows Firewall: protect all network connections to disable, but
this didn't help. Do I have to restart the serer? Any ideas?

Best regards.

Hi Erdal,

Use the Group Policy management console to find out what policy is providing
settings for the Firewall;

Right click on "Group Policy Results" container and start the results
wizzard. Enter details for an XP computer and user in your domain and
compete the wizzard. The results should show you which policy is providing
the firewall settings.

From what I can remember, they may even be a default policy called "Small
Business Server Windows Firewall" that provides the settings.

Remember, when you change group policy, client machines need to be
re-started (often more than once) before the new policy will be applied. You
can get round this on XP machines by running the command "GPupdate". Hope
this helps you.

Chris.

Hi Chris,

thank you for your reply. I have used the "Group Plicy Managment" and
changed "Group Policy Objects" for "Small Business Server Windows Firewall"
GPO status from Enabled to All settings disabled and after restarting the
XP computer I could disable the XP firewall.

Best regards.
