How to disable automatic spaces

Hello,

I've got a problem with Word XP as it is placing and removing
spaces without asking.

I've got 2 samples to illustrate my problem.

Sample 1 (Copy & Paste):
I've copied the text 'test' to the clipboard.
When I paste the text into the sentence 'This is a sentence'
between 'a' and 'sentence' I get 'This is a test sentence'.
Notice the space after the word 'test'. This is added by
Word without asking me. As I copy and paste a lot of stuff
where it's meant to become one word this is very annoying.

Sample 2 (Delete):
I've got a text like 'Test ' followed by a paragraph ending.
When I select 'Test' (and not the space behind it) and press
'Delete' then Word deletes the space as well. This is also
very annoying.

Can anyone tell me how to disable this 'intelligent'-behaviour?

Many thanks in advance.

Greetings,
HD

Finally I found an answer to my problem.

You can go to the 'Tools'-menu and select 'Options'. After
that select the 'Edit'-tab. Now you can disable 'Smart copy
and paste' (this may be called a little bit different, I've
translated this last option from the Dutch Word version).

If you want you can leave it enabled and set several options
regarding the smart copy/paste by clicking on the 'Settings'
button.

Greetings,
