How do i get a list of available workgroups or domains that I have access
to?

Well you can from a cmd prompt of a net view, that will show you the
resources in your domain for a browse list. You can goto Network
Neighborhood, and just begin to double click.
You can also use some of the cmd line tools and script some tasks to test
connectivity to boxes, but it really wouldn't be worth the time.
Check out some of the 3rd party management tools, as they have network
discovery processes that might provide what you are looking for.
