I have posted this question before, but noone seems able to help me, so now I'm trying me luck again

We have a network share, that all our users saves their documents in

We would like to set permissions so that users are able to
-see all document
-Create document
-Change/edit documents created by them selves and other
-Rename documents created by them selves and other
BUT NOT DELETE THE FOLDER AND DOCUMENTS

We have tried to remove the "modify" permission for the users, but that doesn't seem to work

We have edited the advanced permissions for the users: First we removed the mark in "Delete" and in "Delete subfolders and files" but that didn't work

So we put a mark in "Deny delete" and in "Deny delete subfolders and files" but that didn't produce the desired output either

If someone knows how to produce the desired output, then please write to us
And please write very detailed as it is easy to make misunderstandings..

Thanks in advance and a merry christmas to you all

Kindly regard

I currrently work are a college
and the same question that you now pose
became apperant to me and that I would
need to deal with it, the best you can do is
go to the security tab of the folder or folders
you want to deny access to. <<Allow full control>>
after which you will select the <<second check
mark which is modify>>,((must be done in this order or it
will yield diffrent results if you try to modify
<<modify>> in advance setings or do in any other manner
windows is wierd in this manner))when you do so the full
control as well as modify are removed from the
user or user group. Advance setings will reveal
all settings you needed are checked except the
delete box this means every thing can be done
with in the folder but nothing to the folder such
as delete it or rename it. The folder will remain
but additional settings to the files need to be
made so that they will not be deleted in my case I
have to allow deletion with in the folder so I do not
modify the files just the folder.

You can't deny delete if you also want your users to write. If you could,
it would still allow users to overwrite all of the content of a file
(functionally nearly the same as deletion - same data loss).

To avoid data loss you should have a good file backup mechanism in place.
