This application installed with Windows Update run none stop and take
all my memory.
So stop it and configure it for Manual startup or Disabled. Indexing
Service is installed as part of Windows XP; use the Services applet to
configure it (stop it, and configure for Manual or Disabled). I have
mine configured for Disabled (so some application doesn't start it and
then leave it running). For help on the Indexing Service, just search
on "Indexing Service" in Start -> Help.
Find Fast is not installed by an Windows update. It is installed
because you included it in an install of MS Office. Find Fast was
discontinued in Office XP (because it relies on the Indexing Service
already in Windows 2000/XP). So you must have Office 2000 or earlier.
As I recall, it sticks a shortcut in the Startup folder, so delete it
(or move it into a Startup folder under the folder containing all the
Office shortcuts so you could re-add it later).
