how to delete fax from phone line

Hello, I have a e-machine computer with windows xp A
friend purchased me a lexmarks printer, copier and fax
machine. The fax has messed up the phone line and do not
know how to get the fax of the windows. If you can help
mme with this please respond and tell me how to do this. I
even changed my phone number but the fax still comes on. I
even unhooked it from my computer and got an hp printer
and copier only no fax want the fax off completely.

If I understand you correctly, you want to uninstall
Windows Fax from your computer.
Go to Add Remove Programs [Start->Control Panel-
Add/Remove Programs], goto Windows components. You will

see Fax in the list of installed software. Uncheck Fax.

If you just want to disable reception of Fax [you can
still send Fax], you can do it from the Configuration
Wizard [Start->Programs->Accessories->Communication->Fax-
Fax Console->Tools->Configure Fax]

Do you gave windows fax installed? If you don't want fax at all, you can
just un-install it from Windows->Add/Remove Components.
Another very simple thing you can do is to stop the fax service -
net stop fax
