XP has a bug where Explorer tries to read the entire contents of an
AVI before allowing any access to them (i.e. move/delete/restore).
If it's in the Recycle Bin, you might start pulling your hair out.
To spare your hairs, you must prevent Explorer from loading
shmedia.dll
To do this:
Start Menu >> Run >> regedit
First, back up your registry to some easy to find place on your hard
drive.
Then navigate to the appropriate registry key like so:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
Classes
CLSID
{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}
InProcServer32
Delete this key.
Now your AVI file should be movable, deletable and restorable.
