I want to paste a logo in my presentation. When i downloaded it, it has the
usual square white background which i want to delete as my presentation has a
blue background. I know that in Corel for example you can delete it by using
a mask... how can i do it in power point?

It depends on how your original logo file was created:

1. If it was an illustration, you can probably ungroup the logo, and delete
the white backdrop object.

2. If it is an illustration that won't ungroup -- and you have the original
file, open it in a drawing program and delete the white box. If you can't do
that, you could probably ask the person who gave you the logo if they have a
version with the white box removed.

3. If it is a bitmap picture, you can try using PowerPoint's Make Color
Transparent option to make the white color box not visible.

4. If you are familiar with a photo editing application like Photoshop (or
any other), you can remove the white box, and save it as a transparent PNG
or TIFF that you can bring into PowerPoint.

Depending upon the approach you take, you might have more questions -- do
get back and let us know.
