Hi,

I've been trying to get rid of a partially downloaded *.avi file that seems to have been corrupted in
such a way that I cannot delete it even after resetting all the access permissions on the file. I allso
installed ProcessXP to see what other dll's might be accesing the file but there are none so I quess
the file is corrupt in a new way for me. I've checked all the possible related applications that might
have anything to do with opening the file type on my machine but all in vain.
The error is: Cannot delete File... Access denied
It's driving me nuts, I'm about to reformat the hardrive where the file is located if nothing else
helps but that sucks... If anyone has suggestion as to how the get the file erased, all help is appreciated.

Hi,

Try taking ownership of it. Right-click the folder, select properties. Go to
the security tab and click advanced. You can take control of the folders on
the owner tab. For the security tab to appear in a WinXP Pro system, you
must disable simple file sharing in the control panel/folder options/view
tab. For a WinXP Home system, you must restart in safe mode and logon as
administrator. More details here:
