How to delay start-up mail download?

Dear Friends,

Whenever I start my outlook it starts downloading messages automatically.
While this is good, it becomes a pain as the mail download starts even
before outlook is fully started and so the rules written by me for
organising the emails get ignored on this auto download. Obviously, the
rules load little late. Subsequent downloads promptly use all the rules.

How do I delay the auto download on outlook startup?

Regards
Sam

Uncheck the option for Outlook to automatically poll for new mail every xx
minutes.

Also, install the Office SPs as one of them corrects this problem.

In Outlook 2002 (XP) you can try Tools > Options > Mail
Setup > uncheck the "send immediately when connected", and
click on "send/receive" button and schedule an automatic
send/receive every 5 minutes (or whatever interval you
like) - alternatively you can simply revert to manual
send/receive

Hope this helps

Cheers
