I use Address Card View to view and search a contact with File As field as
the first field in the view. I prefer to see contacts by First Last name or
the Company name if the contact is just a business name. This way I can
locate a contact quickly just by typing the first name for a person or
company name for a business.
Unfortunately, after synchronizing with my palm pilot I saw all the person
name as Last, First in the File As field even though I had already setup my
preference as First Last. I have more than 1000 contacts in my Outlook. It
is just not possible to manually correct all File As field to First Last
name.
I tried customizing the view to show first field as First Name, Last Name.
This shows the persons' name correctly, but all business contacts show up
with the first field as blank on the card view (as these don't have first
and last names). Consequently I cannot use type a company name to locate a
business.
Is there a way to create a user defined field the value of which should be
First Last name if these are present or a business name otherwise? Then I
could use this UDF in a customized Address View.
