How to create distribution lists based on Contacts' category type

I need to set up a series of distributio lists based on the category type for
my contacts. Is there an easy way to do this?
 
No. No easy way. But do you need to?

You can email the whole group just by dragging to the Outbox. Using a
Category is also more flexible in that you can email merge to them.
