how to create a specical Host name in DNS

Hi All,

is there anyway we can create an "A record" with the dot
with it? Example.
mss.support.com A 10.x.x.x
is there any trick to work around with this? Thanks in
advance.

You cannot create an A record with a dot in it.
But if you have a zone named support.com you need an A Host named mss with
the IP you want, this will cause a problem resolving other names in the
support.com public zone. For that I suggest that you can create a new
forward lookup zone named "mss.support.com" and put a Blank A Host in it
with the IP you want.

Yes. There are at least three ways, in fact. The first two
(using the GUI and DNSCMD) are in the product documentation,
and the third is to edit the relevant database source file
directly.
