I am trying to add a second DC as a redundancy in my
domain. How do I do this? Is there a paper that may be
helpful to do this process? I do not have a test
environment available so I need to do it in the real
environment and I can't afford to make any mistakes.
Please advise. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Make sure that your existing dc is running at least sp3, preferable sp4, and
that dns is set up properly on it. You should be able to ping your domain
name and get a reply from any machine as well as the full dns name of that
dc. The new win2k server should be pointed to only that dc for dns
(assuming that it is your dns server for the domain which it probably is)
and then run dcpromo selecting additional dc in an existing domain. The
rest should be pretty automatic but hopefully the following will help;
