Hi,

I have a table of Customer information and I have a PostCode field. I'm
getting some badly typed postcodes so someone suggested i put in an Input
Mask to prevent that from happening.

An example of a canadian postcode is M6J 2J9

Is this possible to do?

Any help would be wonderful

thanks
Janet

I believe this was just addressed yesterday. Please do a search and read
the previous posts. This exact same message was asked yesterday.

Please search for answers to common questions before posting a new thread.
That is why the old posts are retained.

Good luck,

As a rule, I do not recommend input masks for either postal codes or
telephone numbers. The first time that you have to enter a zip code for one
of your neighbors way down south or try to add the Queen of England's phone
number, you'll see what I mean.

Hi Rick,

I can't seem to find the post you're refering to. I've searched for Canada,
PostCode, Input Mask etc but can't seem to find it. Was the answer in this
newsgroup

Thanks
Janet

While I agree with the general sentiment that input masks are more of a
hindrance than a help, this would be one exception.

If you are absolutely sure that you'll only deal with Canadian addresses,
then an input mask really helps. Nothing slows down a touch typist faster
than a Canadian postal code.
