create a boot cd to start my xp system

To repair your installation you need to boot from the XP CD, set the bios to
use the cdrom as the first boot device when the XP CD starts follow the
instructions and use the repair option.

Greetings --

All legitimate WinXP installation CDs are bootable. Simply boot
from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the opportunity to
delete, create, and format partitions as part of the installation
process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot devices in the
PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

If, for some reason, your PC is incapable of booting from a CD,
you can obtain the WinXP Setup diskettes from Microsoft.

Ah. For support re-installing an OEM OS, consult the PC's
manufacturer.
