I have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server as a operating system
i want to know that how to acess the SAM database file and
where it resides in server.

Probably best to ask the system administrator my friend! If you have to get
data off the system, plug the drive into another windows nt/2k/xp machine

I'm not gonna tell you that, simply 'cause I consider somebody running an advanced server environment without knowing these kind of things not a professional

Know how to use un*x? Create a simple linux boot-disk, boot it using linux. And download a simple tool like "ntpwch". This is an easy tool allowing you to open the SAM and reset a PW. There is only one *but*... When you changed the name of the admin account, it will still show 'administrator' in the SAM but that call will not be accepted. First reset the admin account to its original name 'administrator' and then reset the PW. If you created an other account with admin privileges, use this one. Reset the PW and get out

Next time: create a backup admin account with a password that you *can* remember
To err is human, to forgive is against company policy

Luck

've found a link: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd

Have a nice play

P.S. Please don't post messages over and over. You're making a mess of the forum. You have to understand that users experiencing problems using win-x OS or other MS-x will try to find information on this site that might solve their problems. when they run any query contaning !SAM hundreds of empty posts will be returned. And you're also annoying W!zz trying to keep people out sh!t, 'cause it takes ages to compare and filter all duplicate posts
