How to copy older HDD to a new one?

Hello guys:


I'm replacing an older HDD in computer with a newer one. Can somehow suggest
how can I copy all the data from an old HDD? I have Windows 2000 installed on
it. I'm mostly curious about any hardware devices to do that.

Hardware drive duplicators are spendy. Really only economical if you
need do a large number of drive images. Four figures.

Other people can answer the software duplicator issue.
 
No hardware needed...

Any decent disk-image program has the disk-copy portion. Also, all(?) HD
mfg's has a disk-copy program, if not WITH the new HD, then available at
their website...usually with instructions....

There are various methods to do this, one of which you should consider is using
Windows XP's native F.A.S.T. utility. It's designed to transfer the applicable
program data files and settings of your choosing from one system to another and
it
can also be used for backup purposes. See this link for a comprehensive

Be aware that passwords will not make the trip...that's by design.

Thank you guys. I will try. I have also just discovered that this HDD is not
a boot one (i.e, Drive D: it doesn't have OS installed on it). Does it make
it easier to copy? If so, then how?
