how to copy files to a CD or burn a CD if that's the same thing

i need to "back up' my files,and i have empty cd's but i
don't know how to copy them to a cd. what steps do i take
to do that.

Open XP's "Help and Support" and type: BACKUP , and hit enter.

Someone answere to type in BACKUP in help and support.
This is not true. Type in CDRW. This will give you a step
by step.
