I have done a powerpoint presentaion. But I would like to have it opend with
powerpoint slide option. so that participants cant see the side panel and the
custom animations .

PowerPoint file from PowerPoint 2003 or earlier, open My Computer and find
the file. Right click the file name then click rename. Change the extension
(extensions have to be visible) by renaming from .PPT to .PPS and then
answer yes or OK to the caution that shows.

Making extensions visible - Start Windows Explorer, click on Tools, Folder
Options, View, uncheck Hide extensions of known file types then click on OK.
 
John, correct.

Had the OP specified PPTX I would have also given the instructions to do a
SaveAs in PPT 2007 but even a file saved in a '97-'03 format in PPT 2007 can
be renamed. It is only the 2007 file format that can't be renamed but must
have a SaveAs PPSX done to convert the file.
