how to control an app freeze?

I'm developing an application that will run in the field without any
assistance of a devloper/systems deployer. So this app must be capable of
detect any hanging and reinitialize itself. I saw once a Microsoft Example
about creating an application that could call and run another app and manage
it on freezin's but I can't find this link anymore.
Any hint?
