I know there is a program out there (free I think) that resumes a download
when a connection times out or something - anyone know what that is??

thanks

There are many such utilities. Some will monitor your usage of their
product, which may or many not be objectionable to you. Read the privacy
policies carefully.

Go to http://google.com and type "resume downloads" into the search bar.

GetRight and ReGet are two such utilities.

Doesn't IE 6 already do this, provided you save the new attempted download
to the same place? Might not work across a reboot though, depends on your
Internet cache settings.

Getright's pretty good though, I bought it many years ago when I was using
dial-up.

I agree I have resumed downloads a few times with my dial up
connection when a download was interrupted with IE6.
