How to construct a pareto chart using excel?

Hi,
As above, does anyone out there know how to construct one?
Or do I have to use other MS Office application to create
the above-mentioned? Thanks a million!!!

Depends on what other MS Office application you are referring to. If it
is easier than creating a Pareto chart in XL, then, by all means do so.

In XL, the easiest way I can think of a Pareto chart is to create a
PivotChart. The category would be the row field as well as the data
field. If the categories are all numeric, you will have to set the data
field to 'Count' rather than 'Sum'.

If you have the Analysis Toolpack installed, you can get a pareto chart.
Go to Data Analysis on the Tools menu, select Histogram from the list,
and select the Chart Output and Pareto (Sorted Histogram) options. The
Analysis Toolpack is an addin that comes with Excel.

Hi Jon,

The reason I don't recommend the Histogram capability or the FREQUENCY
function is that both require the data be numeric.
