hi all,

windows xp pro sp2 (all machine),

i have three machine A, B,and C, all connected to a router, which act as
gateway. i can use remote desktop to use machine A and B to/from each other.
A and B individually can also remote desktop to machine C. however i am not
able to to remote desktop to either machine A or B from C. i am not sure what
is going on here. would appreciate help and advice.

thank you.

The only thing I can think of is if you have personal firewall software
configured to only allow RDP incoming connections from specific IP addresses
versus the whole subnet or any IP on the internet for example...

al, thanks for your reply.

the only firewall that i have on is the one that comes with XP (and that's
on all three machines). what stumps me was there was no problem with A and B
to/fro remote desktoping and from either A and B to C but i simply could not
remote desktop from C to either A or B (either using computer name or IP
address). what happened was when i put the IP address and password for
example, it just hang (seems to be seeking something for an awfully long
time) and this only happened if i used to right IP address. if i had used a
bogus IP address, i would receive the error message post-haste.

another thing that is odd, although A and B can see either Shared doc's,
neither A or B could see C's shared documents and C could not see A and B
shared docs when i click on my network place.

i am really baffled and don't know how to proceed from here. would
appreciate further advice, help, or suggestions.

thank you,
jes

Again it comes down, at least in my mind, to a firewall issue. Check the
address scope for both Remote Desktop on PC-A and PC-B and for File & Print
Sharing on PC-C. Here is an example of what I am talking about...

Beyond that I really have no idea...
