How to connect to shares from remote client

Hi,
I am a complete novice so please bear with me . . .

I am using Win2k server with a Win 2k client and a Softnet VPN Client

I can connect to the network via the VPN no problem - I can ping all the
servers and I can run the application software

What I can't do is open a shared folder - what do I need to setup so that I
can browse the network?

Are you getting an error when you try to access the share
folder, or you just don't see it?
 
I don't see it - it says a logon server is not available at this time - but
I can ping it and run application so I know it is there
