How to connect Modem - Suppressor - HP950 MF Printer - Phone?

Might seem an idiotically stupid question.

But when I connect wall > surge suppressor > HP950 > Modem > Phone,
it doesn't work.

But when I connect wall > surge suppressor > Modem > HP950 > Phone, it
does.

How come?

Who cares? If it works connected one way and not the other, just connect
it the way it works and find something more useful to do with your time!
:-)

But to answer your question the HP950 must have some sort of filter in it
that affects the modem.

Obviously the OP does. Maybe he wants to expand his knowledge.
However he didn't bother to explain what he was connecting. I
rather doubt the Modem has auxiliary AC power sockets, and I also
see no reason for a printer to have a phone line, so it is all
very nebulous.

Forget it!

My printer is the HP950 Multifunction printer, and so can send/receive
fax. Hence the need to have it on phone line. My phone is a simple
pick and talk phone. My modem is an internal HSP56 Micromodem.
My question was out of curiosity. Seemed strange to me.

Sorry and g'bye.
