How to connect 2 computers to transfer from old to new outllook BC

How do I connect and configure 2 computers - my desktop - and my new laptop
which has Outllook BCM 2003 - I need to transfer all my contacts from my old
outlook into my new outlook BCM - I am new to this - sort of - what cables
etc. do I need

I'm not up on the laplink style solutions for connecting two machines,
but if you connect the two mahines to a LAN, the same user on both
machine should have permission to copy files from one to the other.

With BCM specifically, you can backup a database on one machine, copy
the backup file to the other machine, and restore the database there.
