How to configure 2 HD for best perfromance?

I have installed a second HD and the computer work slower?
Is there a difference between XP home and XP profesional
in handling 2 or more HD?
Is there any perfromance differances if the HD are
connected to the same IDE or different IDE?
 
Put both on same IDE,make sure jumper on second drive is
set to slave.Also note,if you put files and folders on
another drive,it will take longer for os to find.
 
Make sure the cable is a 40 pin, 80 wire data cable if it needs it.

If you added the new drive to a system that has a CD on the same channel, it
probably has a 40 pin, 40 wire cable.
