hi. i tried to move my grandmothers address book to her
new comp with outlook 2000 with office 2000 and its a
winXP computer. i messed it all up and now the address
book wont work and i think a few other things dont either.
i have tried reinstalling many times but nothing changes.
all emails still there, everything. how to i reset all
files related to it so i can reinstall it and start fresh?
(oh and i cant reload windows, the idiots of the
manufacturer didnt include an XP cd, or even cd's for
drivers for the comp's hardware or anything).

thanks

does help, about say internet mode or corporate/workgroup? the easiest fix
might be to make a new profile, but we need to know the mode to give the
correct steps.

if it's only addressing issues, try opening the address book and going to
it's tools, options menu and removing the address lists, then add them back.

1) Close all e-mail enabled applications
2) Double click on the Mail applet in the control panel
3) Select Show profiles
4) Remove all profiles you see here
5) Exit the profile dialog and control panel
6) Start Windows Explorer
7) Go to \windows\application data\microsoft\outlook
8) remove all files that do not end with a *.pst or *.pab extension
9) Go to \windows\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook
10) remove all files that do not end with a *.pst or *.pab extension
11) Close Windows Explorer and reboot the system

At this point you are now ready to create a new Outlook profile.
