I have a new computer that came with windowsxp already
loaded. I hate it. I would like to put windows2000 on it
( from my old computer) but it will not let me. How do I
completely remove this from my computer?
Thanks

Man....The only way to do that is to FORMAT your whole
system and then Install Windows 2000 on your computer.
But...If you have some valuable documents/files on your
system, then you can do a PARALLEL INSTALL of the Windows
2000. That means you'll have two OS..and you can choose
win 2000 as your default. Hope that..this works for you.

1. Backup your data, to another hard drive, CD, DVD or tape........ because
nothing will be left on the disk
2. Install windows 2000 from CD.
The setup will allow you to delete/create partitions.

Yes, that is what I need to do. I have tried running the
2000 over the exsiting xp - and it tells me that I am
trying to install a older verison, and won't let me. This
is a new system, so I have nothing that I want to save at
this point ( besides these great instructions :) Would I
go in via DOS and just reformat the whole thing? I did
this once before with windows 98 but do not remember how
to do it. Any help is welcomed.
Thanks

Downgrades are not possible. Boot from your WIndows 2000 CD and
follow the prompts for a clean installation.

But you're making a mistake, in my view. Windows XP is just a
newer, better release of Windows 2000. Going backward is not the
thing to do. You'd be much better off taking the time to get
accustomed to what's new in XP.

Also note that if it's Windows XP's look you hate, it's entirely
optional. You can turn it off, use the Classic view instead, and
make it look almost identical to Windows 2000.

What the H#&& is this message? I ask a serious question
on a Microsoft website and I get hackled?????
