For the last few days when I click on a folder to open it,
the folder opens and a folder tool bar also shows up on
the left hand side of the open folder. I can click on the
tool bar and close it so that I can see the File and
folder tasks, other places etc, but whenever I reopen the
folder, the folder tool bar is there again. I want to
turn off the folder tool bar view for all folders. How do
I do this?

In the Windows Explorer.

Go to a folder. It can be any folder that isn't hidden. It doesn't matter.

Now, close the left-hand windowpane so that the handy tasks are showing
instead.

Click: Tools
Click: Folder Options
Make sure the General tab is open (which, handily enough is the default
configuration)
Choose the Radio Button: Show common tasks in folders

If it is already selected, choose the other Radio Button and click: Apply
Then, choose the Show common tasks in folders Radio Button again, and
click: Apply

Click on the View tab
Click the button that reads: Apply to All Folders
Click: OK

Close the Windows Explorer.
Just for S#*ts and Giggles, reboot.

When you get Windows XP up and running again, open the Windows Explorer by
clicking on My Computer (not by pressing: Ctrl + E)
