How to clear a Word 2002 startup message

I have Word 2002 (SP3) and Windows XP.

At startup this message appears: "The global template, normal.dot, is
already open as an add-in program". By using the Word 2002 Template Support
program, all the options have been used. After that, Word will open without
the message. When Word is closed and reopened, the message reappears and I
am clueless about the source of the problem causing the message to
regenerate itself.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Joe

Hi Joesph,

Sounds like the normal.dot template may have been placed in the Word Startup
folder. If so, move it into the user templates folder. You can determine
the locations of the folders via Tools>Options>File Locations.

Thanks for the interest and suggestions.

Normal.dot was in: c:\Documents & Settings\user\Application
Data\Microsoft\Word\Startup, as suspected.

It was moved to: c:\Documents & Settings\user\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates. Then, Word was restarted and the worrisome message
did not appear. But, after closing Word and re-opening it, the message
re-appeared. Also, normal.dot was re-generated in the startup folder.

Additional consideration of my problem would be appreciated. Joe
